IntuitMaster(IM) - Decision Analyst
Decision Analyst evaluates every decision made during a football game. Whether it’s a subtle movement or a decisive pass, each action has the potential to shape the outcome. Although football is incredibly complex, player decisions can essentially be grouped into two categories: on-ball and off-ball.
On-ball
For on-ball decision-making, two key factors should be considered: timing and positioning. First, timing involves determining the optimal moment to act—whether that's passing, dribbling, or shooting. Second, positioning entails choosing where the ball should go after the decision is executed; for example, identifying the best location for a pass. To conduct these measurements, we utilize our Space Evaluation Model to assess decision-making based on the space generated by each specific action. Besides, according to our research, scanning is a key skill that enables players to assess game scenarios and make the right decisions. We developed a novel Scanning Evaluation Model that first detects the player’s body pose and then measures how efficient players are at scanning in terms of finding valuable space.
Off-ball
Compared to on-ball decisions, off-ball decisions often receive less attention. Even when you want to analyze them, the process can be extremely time-consuming. However, off-ball running is crucial for space utilization and coverage, significantly influencing the success of every attacking and defensive play. To address this challenge, we developed the Individual Space Evaluation Model, which breaks down team space control into individual contributions. With this technology, even the smallest positive or negative decisions can be quickly identified, allowing coaches to accurately and objectively assess player performance.
Space Control Prediction Model
Last but not least, the standout innovation in our technology is the Space Control Prediction Model, which generates a benchmark representing the league's average performance. This model predicts what other teams would do in the same scenario, providing a valuable reference for evaluating your team. It enables you not only to determine whether your performance is good or bad but also to understand how it compares to the league average.
